A WiFi clock camera is an ordinary-looking clock with a small camera and WiFi built in, so you can check a room from your phone. It is a common choice for a living room, home office, nursery or hallway in your own home. This guide covers what to check before you buy one.

The styles we list

We currently list three clock cameras. All three are listed at 1080P with WiFi live view and MicroSD storage, and all three are priced at $52.99 USD before shipping and import duties.

You can compare them side by side on our clock cameras page.

What to check before you buy

Power

Ask how the clock is powered and how long it can record before you rely on it. Our supplier sheet for these three models does not list a battery capacity, so if continuous recording matters to you, message us and we will confirm the power setup for the model you want.

Your WiFi network

Many small WiFi cameras connect only to 2.4GHz networks, and some will not work with a router that combines 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one name. Check the camera's network requirements and make sure the spot you choose gets a reliable signal from your router.

Storage

All three models record to a MicroSD card. Buy a reputable card and format it in the camera. Ask us which card sizes the model supports if you plan to record for long periods.

Placement

Pick a spot with a clear view of the area you want to cover and a nearby power source. A shelf at about eye level or above gives a wider view than a low table. Keep it away from direct sunlight and from windows that cause glare.

Use it lawfully

Use a clock camera to look after your own property. Never place one where people expect privacy, such as a bathroom or bedroom that is not yours. If you use it to supervise a caregiver or employees, tell them that cameras are in use where your local rules require it. Audio recording is regulated separately in many places. Our guide Is it legal to use a hidden camera? explains the basics, and it is general information rather than legal advice.
